SB191 Panelists

Lisa R. Cannon, AuD, CCC-A

Lisa is an educational audiologist for Denver Public Schools and also serves as the Audiology Coordinator for CDE in a consultative role. She has 20 years of experience practicing in the public schools in Colorado, which has been recognized for its progressive implementation of school-based audiology services. Lisa provides technical support to CDE staff and districts, plans professional development activities for educational audiologists in the state, and she facilitated the Audiologist workgroup focusing on SB191.

Ellen Kelty, M.A., NCSP

Ellen is the supervisor for Special Education Assessment Services, Mental Health & Assessment, Denver Public Schools. She is a school psychologist and has served DPS for fifteen years.  Ellen was a member of the SB191 workgroup who developed the rubric for special service professionals/ school psychologists.

Jim Smyth, SCEE Representative

Jim is a science/ math teacher with 20 years’ experience in Grand Junction having acquired degrees from Mesa, Adams State, and CU.  For the past four years, Jim has been working, by Governor’s appointment, on the State Council for Educator Effectiveness while also representing teachers as President of the Mesa Valley Education Association.  Jim is currently teaching science to at-risk students for Mesa County Valley School District #51.  In his “spare” time, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and grandchildren riding bikes, golfing, and camping (not necessarily in that order).

Earl A. Rendon, M.S.W. School Social Worker/Dept. Chair

Earl has been a school social worker with Centennial BOCES for 15 years.  He has worked as a social worker in the medical field, mental health and as a consultant.  Earl was a member of the SB191 workgroup developing the rubric for and representing school social work.   He notes his privilege and fortune in having worked in the presence of exceptional and talented peers in this endeavor.   His interests include family, travel and volunteering.  Hobbies include: golf, story- telling, gourmet cooking and various outdoors activities.  Lastly, he’s exceptionally talented at many things, handsome and, boy is he smart!!!
